What's happening at the pool? Lubbock Relays 2010The 2010 Lubbock Relays will hosted at the Pete Ragus Aquatic Center on Saturday, October 9th. This annual meet is a fun and exciting way to kick off the high school season. Swimmers and divers from all over West Texas will compete in a relay only swimming and diving competition. Some of the fun relays include the inner-tube relay and the dog paddle relay, but will also include the standard high school relays. Coaches can find meet information and a copy of the event list in the Meet Information section of this web page.
Seven Academic All-AmericanThe NISCA (National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association) has selected seven Lubbock ISD swimmers and divers as Academic All-Americans. Those athletes include Coronado's Shawn Grace and Cody Garrett, Monterey's Clayton Brake and Avrey Tankersley and Lubbock High's Colleen Blanton, Johanna Neuber and Abigail Nebb. This is the twelfth year in a row for Lubbock swimmers and divers to be selected as Academic All-Americans.
Lubbock swimmers & divers earn All-American honorsFour Lubbock ISD swimmers and divers earned All-Americans honors from NISCA (National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Assiocation) to help cap an amazing 2009-2010 season. Coronado's Adam Ruiz earned All-American diving honors for the third year in a row. Monterey's sophomore diver Trey Voyles earn All-American for the first time after a break out season. Lubbock High's freshmen swimmer Madisyn Cox garnered All-American honors in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Coronado's junior swimmer Victoria Palombit earned All-American honors in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. This marks the fifteenth year in a row for LISD to have an All-American diving honor and the third year in a row for swimming. The announcement of this year's swimming and diving All-Americans was announced by NISCA on June 30th.
![]() Region 1- 5A Championship ResultsLubbock ISD swimmers and divers had an incredible Regional Championship Meet at the Pete Ragus Aquatic Center. Ten Lubbock swimmers and divers will compete in the 5A State Championship on February 26-27 in Austin, Texas. Coronado's Audrey Ruiz, Adam Ruiz, Shawn Grace and Victoria Palombit, Monterey's Clayton Brake and Lubbock High's Madisyn Cox, Cara Kasemsri, Kimberly Allen, Alexis Danchak and Abigail Nebb will represent Lubbock at the state championship. In the team competition, Lubbock High girls won their third regional championship in the past four years. On the boys' side, Coronado repeated as regional championship by 50 points over regional rival El Paso Eastwood.
